Greek openSUSE community, Translation of our First issue of Weekly news in Greek(issue 150)

The Greek openSUSE Team is pleased to inform you that the translation of openSUSE Weekly News issue 150 is a fact, take a look
http://el.opensuse.org/Weekly_news

Today is a Great day for the Greek Community, today after two meetings we made to show all (including ourselves) that we were not just big fat words and that we can make things happen as a team that is bigger than 3 or 4 people. We know we are late, we were not in a hurry, we wanted it done correctly. We made it and we are really proud of it. When we started creating the Greek community many people told us that it would end up a great failure. Today we say to them:
-You Are Wrong.

We know we have road ahead of us, but Every great journey must start with one small step.

Greek openSUSE community, Our first meeting

Yesterday the Greek openSUSE community had it's first meeting.
The purpose of this meeting was all of those who are interesting on participate to decide the next steps of our community together.
Me(Warlordfff) and Stathis(Diamond_gr) had no experience on how to organize such a meeting so we made a lot of mistakes, had many difficulties and many things went wrong but finally we managed to make some decisions about certain points and we decided to have another meeting exclusively at IRC this time, sometime next weekend.
The topics we talked was:

Official translation of 11.4 and the creation of a translators team about it.
Two members showed interest about it:
Kostas Boukouvalas (who is already a openSUSE translator)
Michael Vourlakos
Kostas Boukouvalas has created a wiki page about the translation  (Link)

Forum: Creation of a Greek Section at http://forums.opensuse.org.
The members that expressed  interest about taking responsibilities on that section were:
Stratos Zolotas (Elksi)
Stathis Iosifidis (Diamond_gr)
Kostas Koudaras (warlordfff)
Kostas Boukouvalas (Boukouvalas)
George Bratsos (Etern4l)

Wiki:We decided all members to contribute by translating parts of the wiki in Greek. Also there was a suggestion about organizing a mini hackfest for the translation of our wiki.

LI-F-E: We talked about making a Greek division of LI-F-E incorporating the packages of the Greek ministry of education.

OBS:We decided to form a team about OBS,the team will take some packages for maintenance and Support, also to create packages that are not available for openSUSE (such packages are the packages of the Greek ministry of education that we need so that we create our LI-F-E division)

Finally we decided to process all that in our mailing list the whole week and talk about all that and more at our next meeting.

Thessaloniki's openSUSE 11.3 party report

11/3 was the date.
We had the party finally.
We know we were late but it turned out that it worth-ed the waiting.

What we had:
-We had openSUSE dvd's
-We had balloons
-We had stickers we made
-We had flyers we made
-We had a Cake
-We had party gear (horns-whistles etc.)
-We had a Rock bar for us
-We had Kostas as a DJ-VJ
-We had Stathis welcoming people
-We had beer's (not free unfortunately ;-) )
-We had about 25 openSUSE people-friends

We had a lot of fun,we rocked until dawn,we got drunk, among all this we talked about the community we are building and we decided to arrange some meetings so that we can form work-groups.

People liked what we did so far as a community and they want to become a part of all this. I believe that this is a great success. The party was successful, some of us are still a little drunk ;-)
